The good news is I made it to the grocery store to get the pb&j and the go-gurt and the apples to slice and the two different kinds of chips.
The lunch boxes were clean. They were labeled. They were filled with the lunches just as requested.
I sorted the laundry. I washed the laundry. I folded the laundry. Everyone had new shoes. Everyone had new socks. Everyone had the right folder in the right color with the right super-hero on the front.
Everything I needed for the first full successful school morning was right here this morning.
Just like this.
Just like it's going to be every other damn morning of every other damn school day for the whole damn year.
Why would I start the school year any other way? To set everyone up for a sad, sad disappointment come the end of September when real life kicks in?
I thought I'd just be up front right from the start. This is how I function and I'll be damned if I'm going to let Pinterest make me feel bad about that.
Back off, Pinterest. I'm trying to parent.
And my kids had a fantastic first day of school, thankyouverymuch.
Happy Wednesday, friends.
go. do. be.
